Our client, the South Australia Police (SAPOL) provides a diverse range of services to the community. These services are aimed at creating a safe and peaceful environment by the minimisation of crime and disorder. SAPOL provides vital services across the State 24 hours per day.  The Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) Service sets the strategic direction of how technology is leveraged across SAPOL, including the adoption of new and emerging trends. IS&T supports the operations of SAPOL through the provision of ICT infrastructure and communication platforms, operational software applications and support services.

The truly outstanding opportunity now exists for a Program Director, Shield to join SAPOL at an exciting time. You will be part of a dynamic leadership team tasked with delivering tech enabled policing to the frontline; you will also have the opportunity to contribute to a Transformation Program introducing new capabilities across the service.

Over the past 10 years, SAPOL has undertaken a major initiative named ‘Shield’ to replace over 21 legacy mainframe systems with a single comprehensive integrated system. Regarded as the “biggest change to SAPOL since the introduction of computers”, Stages 1 & 2 have been completed and successfully implemented a broad range of functions, now core to 6,000+ SAPOL employees.

The remaining stages of complex data integration are critically important to ensure further successful internal operational functionality, synchronised across the wider Justice sector. The role of Program Director, Shield will play a key and crucial part in delivering the accelerated program of works in Stages 3 & 4 of the program in 2022-23. 

Reporting to the Head of Program Delivery, you will be highly experienced in leading and implementing complex, multi-faceted ICT programs in a large and/or complex organisation.  You will be a leader and influencer, highly organised, exceptional at prioritising and flexible in your approach to anticipate and adjust to changes in the strategic or operational environment.

Your demonstrated experience in managing human, financial and material resources and delivering complex, sensitive and collaborative programs in a time critical environment will be of paramount importance to your success in this key strategic role.
